Baxter Dealerships
MBI was contracted through several general contractors to perform work at multiple Baxter dealership locations. MBI provided a variety of services, including the installation of joint sealants, expansion joints, waterproofing systems, decorative epoxy floor coatings, concrete floor sealers, firestopping, and grouting.

HDR Headquarters
Globally renowned design firm HDR made headlines when it relocated its headquarters to a new 254,721-square-foot facility in Aksarben Village. MBI was first contracted through AWS to install the air barrier and perimeter firestopping at the curtain wall system. Additionally, MBI was contracted by Coreslab to grout the entire precast base of the HDR Zone 6 parking garage. The 10-story building now serves 1,000 employees under one roof.

Creighton University
This relationship started in 1979 when MBI owner "Big Joe" was working as an apprentice bricklayer alongside his father, Frank McGill. About 10 years ago, a leak in the Harper Center caused damage to the structure. Creighton contacted MBI in search of a solution to the leak. MBI developed a customized solution to stop the leak without disturbing the structure.
MBI proved to be a valuable resource and, since then, has worked with Creighton on various projects ranging from tuckpointing to rebuilding mop sinks and lining them with a traffic coating, helping keep the campus functional and beautiful.

Hilton Downtown
MBI teamed up with TMI and Terry McGill Inc. on the Hilton in downtown Omaha to remove and replace all sealants on the exterior façade. This work included the windows, EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish System), and precast surfaces. In addition, MBI managed subcontractors responsible for window cleaning.
MBI provided all equipment for the project, including scaffolding, suspended scaffolding (swing stages), and aerial lifts, as well as the labor required to erect and dismantle the scaffolding equipment.

Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium
Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium reached out to MBI around 1998 to perform the below-grade waterproofing for the Desert Dome. Following that project, MBI was brought in to develop a specialized solution to prevent moisture damage within the Desert Dome. MBI focused on protecting the pedestrian walkways and ductwork.
On another occasion, Omaha's Zoo needed assistance lining the floors of the gorilla cages. The key challenge was ensuring that any modifications would be suitable for the gorillas' hands and feet. MBI implemented a solution that was beneficial for the gorillas while also protecting and sealing the concrete from damage.

Other Building Works
Raymond Brothers Building
This project involved restoring a 133-year-old warehouse in the highly visible Historic Haymarket corridor in Lincoln, Neb. The goal was to preserve the historic appearance of the building while repairing the exterior. MBI got to work tuckpointing, which included removing and replacing deteriorated mortar, on approximately 50% of the exterior façade (about 800 bricks), as well as removing old brick and installing new brick.
MBI focused on the large areas of deterioration and was strategic about the number of bricks replaced at one time. A crucial component of the project was bracing the brick above to ensure larger portions of the wall did not collapse when bricks were removed. Once the brickwork was completed, MBI toothed in brick around the windows by filling in areas of missing brick at the window openings, and the interior masonry portions of the window openings were rebuilt.
MBI partnered with Artisan Stone Co., a precast manufacturer, to create a digital model of the existing stone sill. The deteriorated stone sills were then replaced with replica precast sills. The entire exterior façade was washed and cleaned. Inside the building, MBI cleaned and sealed all masonry surfaces with a matte-finish sealer. This helped provide a denser, dustproof finish, allowing the interior masonry to remain exposed without the need to paint the brick.

Kiewit Plaza
MBI teamed up with Terry McGill Inc. (TMI) to update the exterior façade of the 197-foot-tall Kiewit Plaza. MBI was contracted to remove and replace sealant throughout the building, including control joints, windows, and granite and marble surfaces, as well as perform repainting work. TMI was brought in to complete the painting portion of the project.
A challenging aspect of the project was engineering and executing the rigging required to access the exterior façade of such a tall structure. MBI collaborated with the client and architect to establish project requirements. The team then developed a schedule and worked with engineers to design a suspended scaffold system that provided access to the building's exterior.
MBI also had custom-colored joint sealants manufactured to match the various paint colors required for the project, helping restore the high-rise to its original grandeur.

Children's Hospital
MBI installed waterproofing, joint sealants, expansion joint assemblies, and traffic coating for the Children's Hospital & Medical Center garage. For the hospital addition, MBI installed waterproofing, joint sealants, expansion joint assemblies, perimeter firestopping, and concrete floor sealer.
